The U-M Office of Financial Aid has begun awarding financial aid to entering freshmen for the 2018-19 academic year. Students with financial aid awards will receive an email advising them to check Wolverine Access to view, print or download their Award Notice.

See our ‘Using Wolverine Access’ page for navigation help

Aid notification has begun for entering freshmen who have completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE. Some of these notifications are estimates of financial aid and students should check Wolverine Access for other application documents that may be required.

Entering students will continue to be notified on a rolling basis as they complete their financial aid application documents. Official Award Notices are sent after students complete their aid applications and, if requested, submit other required documents needed to fully review their aid eligibility (Submit these by June 1).

Note that merit scholarships from U-M are primarily offered by admitting schools or colleges in March or April so may not be shown on your initial Award Notice. Check with your admitting academic program for more details.

Haven’t applied for financial aid yet? Don’t wait! Apply now so you can receive an estimate of your aid before the May 1 enrollment deposit deadline for U-M. We must have your FAFSA and PROFILE no later than April 30, 2018 to consider you for need-based U-M grants and scholarships as well as federal aid programs. See our New Undergraduates page for more information.

Information for Entering Students 2018-2019Did you receive an Award Notice and have questions? First, open “Information for Entering Students,” where we explain some basics for entering students and instructions about what to do next. If we request additional documents, we must have those in our office by June 1.

If you have additional questions about financial aid at U-M, view or download “Required Reading” which has details about aid programs, the terms and conditions of your aid and other information about how aid is awarded. All students are expected to reference this guide so that they understand their rights and responsibilities in receiving financial aid.

If you have further questions, please contact us by phone at 734-763-6600 or via email financial.aid@umich.edu.
