Leonberger Scholarship
Established by Janet Bueche Leonberger in 2008, the Janet Bueche Leonberger Scholarship Fund provides one need-based scholarship to a graduate of Watervliet High School each year. The scholarship can be used by students admitted to any school or college on the University of Michigan’s Ann Arbor campus.
Eligibility
A graduate from Watervliet High School in Watervliet, Michigan, who has demonstrated high academic achievement, leadership skills, and service to the community, and has demonstrated financial need as calculated by the Office of Financial Aid.
Selection
Each year, the University of Michigan’s Office of Financial Aid will review the list of Watervliet High School graduates who are admitted to the university and select the student who best meets the scholarship’s eligibility criteria.
Deadlines
- Students must apply for admission to the university by Nov. 1 in order to be considered for admission by Feb. 1.
- Students must submit both the CSS Profile and the Free Application for Federal Aid (FAFSA) by Feb. 1.
Notification
If you are chosen as a recipient, you will be notified by the end of April.
Number/Amount
- One scholarship will be awarded each year. Award amounts may vary, depending on available funding.
- This scholarship is renewable for three additional years of undergraduate study, provided the recipient maintains satisfactory academic progress and continuous full-time enrollment.
