FAFSA Action Steps
This page includes action steps you may need to undertake to submit or correct your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
If You Have Not Yet Submitted Your FAFSA
This federal application is required to be considered for financial aid. Complete the FAFSA as soon as possible. U-M's School Code is 002325.
Learn more on the Apply for Aid webpage.
If You Have Submitted Your FAFSA, But Need To Correct the School Code
Add or update U-M's School Code (002325). Note that there are multiple school codes identifying different financial aid offices in the University of Michigan system. It may not be immediately obvious which one you are choosing because of the way the names are listed.
We encourage you to search for the Ann Arbor Office of Financial Aid using our code (002325) and add it to your FAFSA.
Michigan residents: U-M must be the first code listed for state scholarships to be directed correctly.
Remove any University of Michigan school codes attached to your FAFSA that are not 002325 to ensure your aid application is directed to the correct financial aid office.
Students enrolled in dual-degree programs with the U-M Medical School (E00398) or the U-M Law School (E00506) should reach out to the appropriate aid office for guidance on which School Code to use.
Note: E00691 is a defunct School Code for U-M and should not be used under any circumstances.
