Enrollment in a single Mini-Term vs Enrollment in both Mini-Terms or the Full 16-Week Term
The spring/summer enrollment period is unique because it offers the option of attending a spring mini-term, a summer mini-term (mini-terms are also referred to as half-terms), and/or the full 16 week spring/summer semester. For financial aid purposes, you must enroll in the minimum number of credit hours (indicated below) in order to establish eligibility for financial aid. However, your pattern of enrollment will determine your ultimate eligibility for assistance because it defines your eligible costs. Students who enroll in a single mini-term will have a lower Cost of Attendance than a student who enrolls in both mini-terms or the full 16-week term and this could change your aid eligibility.
To better understand your eligibility, we are providing the following chart:
Planned Enrollment | Minimum Required Credit Hours | Cost of Attendance Will Cover | Financial Aid |
Enrolled in a Single Mini-Term, Will NOT Enroll in Both Spring and Summer Mini-Terms |
6 credit hours for undergraduate students * 4 credit hours for graduate students |
Tuition, Fees, Books, Supplies, Housing, Food, and Personal Miscellaneous for the single mini-term only. |
Aid will be calculated based upon the single mini-term costs. Aid will be prorated if you enroll for less than 12 credit hours in the single mini-term of enrollment. |
Enrolled in Both Mini-Terms or Full 16-Week Term. |
Must achieve same total minimum as noted above. May split enrollment evenly or unevenly across both semesters |
Tuition, Fees, Books, Supplies, Housing, Food, and Personal Miscellaneous for both semesters of enrollment |
Aid will be calculated based upon costs for the full 16-week enrollment period Aid will be prorated if you enroll for less than 12 credit hours between the two mini-terms or in the full 16-week term. |
Enrollment Monitoring
TopYour enrollment will be monitored throughout the spring and summer. Changes in your course credit hour load, or your overall enrollment decision, may impact your financial aid eligibility. The Office of Financial Aid will make every effort to notify you of changes in a timely manner, however this may not always be possible. We encourage you to contact the office if you are considering an enrollment change before dropping a course(s) so you can make an informed decision regarding enrollment and aid.
